I’m Jim Wallace, the proud owner of Caravelle Creations. My love for woodworking began at a young age, learning the basics from my father in our garage. During high school, I took woodworking classes where a great teacher taught me the importance of using diverse wood colors and never skimping on sanding and finishing. One of my early projects, a cherrywood clock, won an award at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.
After high school, I joined the carpenters’ union and attended Washburn Trade School, where I honed skills in blueprint reading, drafting, metal stud work, framing, trim work, and, of course, woodworking in general. While working as a carpenter, I continued woodworking projects at home and took on various side jobs. My passion, however, has always been high-end, intricate woodworking using exotic lumber.
